| Quick Post, before this month my d/l speeds on speedtest were. 15-20mb/s download. and 0.5mb/s Upload now 1-6 mb/s download, and same upload. had 4 techs sent out, all say "uhhhhh nothing is wrong" when clearly my internet jitter and ping are going through the roof. getting motorola 3-critical warnings, mostly about DHCP failure. anyway i have something for optus......... anyone else getting retarted speeds with optus? or anyone else for that matter.

| yeah virt you know my story im sure, optus is a bitch for me. more so that we have 2 landlines with them (stupid decision by parents) and cant get another ISP without paying $300 to physically install a new line, then another $129 to connect it. wish they could just sell it to another ISP
i reckon my problem may be more router or modem related. probably modem, may be choking off alot of traffic. i know i get tons of problems with torrents but not so with direct downloads usually. but the kicker is its sporadic and sometimes i get awesome torrent speeds
also sometimes i wont be doing anything other than just having a browser open or on TS and the net will die like 5 times in a row requiring me to reset the router. so in a few cases its the router-modem config thats fucking up but i dont know whats wrong and ive tried alot of shit over the years to fix it.
optus itself is gay for the other things i mentioned too, which doesnt help. also they gave us the modem in the first place so shit choice by them. faggots.
wish i could get 'node. |

| yea i remember Dog, my modem shows up with gay errors, i can get ADSL2+ the exchange is 550 m away from my house and will need 950m cable, if i can get a estimated speed better than optus, ill def change.
otherwise im stuck with this fluctuating internet from 15mbs to 1 lol.
P.S no karma i will not get a new house, already tried that, now its time for the modem! |

| sorry to bring this thread back to life but.... after 5 techs, countless hours of troubleshooting, i got a new modem and well.....fail, still got fucked up speeds....so i thought id go on whirlpool. optus rep Ian Thompson told me to email some stuff to him, did so, he reset the provisioning on my modem, did a power cycle and.....vwola! all speeds are back to normal xD
also using a D-Link router on wireless i get 17mb/s cable anywere between 16-20 mb/s xD |

| Hello FTW & others.
I am also an Optus customer and am moving to a residence that uses their cable modem service. I was just wondering if there are any other such users of this product on the forum and what their experience is like.
From what I know, their cable modem product is a differenrt product to their leased lines/ DSL product. |

im less impressed you ignored my sarcasm and went straight for the jugular by pointing out the obvious. clearly you missed the joke i tried to get you some visual aid to help your tiny brain understand, by finding a youtube vid of a guy on his bicycle where he is peddling alongside a car, and says 'VTEC JUST KICKED IN BRO!' and pedals faster making car noises. couldnt find it however, guess i should have used something else to avoid confusing you. |

I've seen them do it back home, dodgey stuff. ROFL .... still getting drop outs stays around 10-12 mb/s sometimes 18-19, then just drops to about 2....but not as frequent. might try the WD-40 trick lol |

| When I was having major drop outs Node got me to change the protocol in the modem/router from pppoe blah blah to the VC-Mux setting which seemed to sort things out though I'm only on ADSL 1+, you could always try that and if you got no net then change it back.
Not really a good idea to screw around in there unless you know what you are doing. |

| Tried some troubleshooting with my router and modem, changed PPOE or w.e it is, also changed some QoS settings see if that helps, even pluged my computer straight to the modem, still retarded internets, 6th tech came out today, he finally found out a problem, the signal was too high, but he couldnt fix it insted he escalated the issue, and one of his supervises are on the issue. 7th tech should be comming out wednsday....well i hope 7th time a charm? lol |

| haha lol, speeds were good for a while stable 20mb/s then BAM! dropped back down to 2mb/s congested nodes suck.
im on the 150gb karma seems pretty sweet, except for my speeds...but still gotta love the infinity speeds xD
edit: got off the phone with optulag, they told me that these new plans are guarenteed better speeds, and according to them, if im getting 1mb/s it will be increased to 10-15 mb/s which is a HUGE increase. so i hope i still get my 20mb.s with an increase to 30mb.s |

| Oh okay nice nice. I'd reccomend upgrading ur plan tho. I'm at telstra with 200gb at 100/5mbit plan and I still managebto get capped due to just not realising how much I download simply coz of the speed I'm downloading at. |

I am not alone on that plan, my brother also has a pc but we have never capped. If its only a little bit extra like $20 then to me its worth it, unless for some reason it is put onto the cap separately, like only 20gig of the 140gig I got is 100mb/s |

| Ok ive just gotten off the phone with optus, its called DOCSIS 3.0, and thy will ship you out a new modem for it, its only 15 dollars more(month on contract) then what your paying now (add 15 bux) or 20 bux if its non contract. i was on the 150gb now im on the 120GB for 65 bux / month. People that USED to get 10-15 mb/s are now getting anywere between 50-80mb/s ill post up my speed end of this week when the techs come out This is what i get on the normal 150gb / normal speed http://www.speedtest.net/result/888342220.pngill post up my speeds once i get it installed, might be good to also note that the speed is guaranteed to australian content, and not to overseas, tho it still may be increased, "its not guaranteed". also an alternative way of checking your speed - provided by optus http://speedtest.mel.optusnet.com.au/ |
