hmm seems that Crysis 2 is being delayed due to NVIDIA wanting to POSSIBLE redesign the game to work around the upcoming GTX580 and GTX590. Nvidia is also spending 2million dollars on crysis 2.

will be a bit of a disadvantage for ATI/AMD people if this does happen

In recent months, in development labs across the region, Crytek experts have been busy beavering to get the game into stores on 25th March 2011. This date has been set in stone on sites across Europe for many months. We’re betting that it will change. By quite a bit.

Crysis 2 was going to launch on 25th March. Will this be significantly delayed by the changes needed to make GTX580 shine ? Our money is on a LOT more tessellation being added.

One of KitGuru’s cohorts was at the Multiplay i29 event on 24th November 2006 when several people involved in Crysis, including Sebastian Spatzek were asked a ton of questions about the (then) new game.
Just prior to the main onstage demo, the question was asked “Why the delays and why does the game now seem so slow on normal hardware compared to the earlier builds that beta-ed their way into the market. Anything to do with recent sponsorship deals?”. The reply was a wry smile and a gentle shrug of the shoulders. Not sure that you can read anything definitive into that, except to say that the game did come out long after it was expected and it ran like a pig on most set-ups. Strangely, with Zardon’s Tri-SLi nVidia uber-rig it worked fine. Coincidence?
KitGuru says: There are lots of reasons why a company would spend $2m sponsoring a game so close to launch. Whatever the reason, it’s hard to ignore the possibility that it is being re-styled for the GTX580 and GTX590 cards with an absolute ton of additional tessellation IQ. For those that can afford a GTX580 going into Xmas, we believe that your Crysis 2 experience when it launches (several months after March) will be as good as it gets.

Well this may help with the pc version of the game and give Crytek the kick up the ass they need to justify putting extra effort in the PC version.

It does sound like how it was in the previous titles, where the game was made be played best on the highest quality and most $$ cards so not many bought it. I ain't going to play multiplayer admiring all the little leaves and pretty detail when there is enemy shooting me.

exactly. I'm sure Nvidia has seen how things are turning out as well, and its probably a small factor in their investment ensuring pc owners dont get screwed. after crysis is known for its benchmarking. people buy the most expensive cards usually for benchmarking and Nvidia knows that. basing this game around high powered cards will ensure sales for the high end cards will increase.

Nice to see there not all money driven. There is hope yet for crysis 2!

yes danielle it is legitimate and those prices are true...BUT, if they cannot get those prices on release date they will just cancel your order, refund your money and take the product off their website till they get some other prices. CDWOW sources from global areas so that they can get better prices, cheaper than steam sometimes.

Sounds like they intentionally added an aimbot and if you want to do reasonably well in MP go buy a 360 controller for PC.

The missus got me a pre-ordered limited edition for x-mas and the release date on the receipt is the 24th march 2011
Allthough the EA site says 22nd march for North America (US) and 25th march for Europe and everywhere else.

I have a prediction that there is going to be an employee or two and a manager of the store where it is ordered from who are going to wish they hadn't turned up for work on the 24th of march 2011 as all the people who have pre-ordered it are going to be a little cranky with them for blatantly misleading their customers into thinking they will actually have it on the shelves and ready for collection the day they said they would be there when clearly the official EA site FAQ says that they won't.

I knew they would remove that feature. It only appealed to the older players really. Some people would get that good, that when a freshmen steps into play it, they leave by saying wth, how did he do that?! It's a put off. It takes sometime to catch up on the skill level of others. They've definatly Noobed the game out to attrach a larger base of consumers.

But meh, it's Crytek! Regardless of what they do to there games most of our community will still think it's awesome. It brought us thousands of hours of fun. Don't think it will change much.
