You can actually put 4 gtx 285's and run em in sli, i thought the max was 3?

Well technical when you run 2x 295 you are running 4 GPUs this is how this setup works or somthing along those lines, there could be either a new gfx card in the near future that might support 5 way sli and a mother board that supports it as well...... you never know. This thread was created for new hardware, setups and configurations or in the pipe lines of manufacture.

Forgot to mention there is a Core i5 Socket 1156 out now, but it only supports dual channel DDR3 with a P55 chipset and it will also support a Core i7 CPU Socket 1157 aswell so be carful when buying a i7 CPU.

I am not much of a hardware GURU but read this, it might help.

I just like being able to run at my native res 1920X1200 with full spec GFX like the games were intended to be played or "showed off" by their makers. Getting the full immersion makes me *splurt* rofl And you have to run high spec setups to do this....... fact. Also its fun, OC'n and doing up ya rig, tuning it......similar to when i mod my motorbike or cars! Just another toy lol. Cos.

FYI: the EVGA GTX285 'Classified' cards are the only cards currently that you can run 4x SLI with. They have a jumper or something on them which enables them to work together. I'm not going to upgrade for at least another 6 months, current setup is doing me fine By that time i7 should be nice and cheap :>

"instead of north and south bridge, there is one chip" and it is on sicket 1156 and the PCIe slots config is: x16/ x8/ x4 or if 2 graphics cards goes to x8/ x8/ x4

This cpu cooler has hybrid T.E.C cooler to help cool the CPU when it gets a bit to hot and has 200 watt of cooling, very large only down side

Hey Iliccit
Here's some stuff on the next gen graphiocs cards. It is sooooo quiet here at work with Pauline not here Now how to get rid of her permanently.. hee hee
Analysis: Microsoft Gives Nvidia A Nod With Windows 7, DirectX 11 http://www.crn.com/hardware/219401050;jsessionid=1SM2ORT3PBDCVQE1GHRSKHWATMY32JVN In the long run, as is usually the case, the playing field will likely level out a bit as ATI continues to produce compatible GPUs but, for the release of Windows 7, it looks like Nvidia is happily sitting in the front seat.
NVIDIA claims GT300 outperforms ATI 5800 series cards http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/News/156006,nvidia-claims-gt300-outperforms-ati-5800-series-cards.aspx NVIDIA have bounced back in the midst of the 5xxx series news to announce that their next series of cards are not going to be based on a redesigned GT200 core, but rather will be based on a completely new core architecture currently codenamed the GT300. They're claiming that the GT300 has performance significantly higher than anything ATI and their RV870 core can manage, and that if they use two of them in their GX2 arrangement they'll take the top spot again as the fastest graphics card on the planet.
The launch for the GT300 is rumoured for late November, which places it just after the 5xxx series launch. While it's difficult to determine at this stage whether the performance claims are true, or if it's just NVIDIA attempting to take the wind out of ATI's sails, it's going to be interesting to find out who will take top spot - and we'll know for sure by Christmas.

if you would like to setup a home media center and home theater this is what you would want, note, that a SSD would be the best hdd there. and a blueray optical drive and is also supports HDCP and onboard graphics better than buying a blue ray DVD plyer and it also comes with netwoking

Hello Illicit
Thought you might be interested in this: Jen-Hsun Shows Off NVIDIA GT300 'Fermi' Architecture Showcased and first officially announced here at NVIDIA's GPU Technology Conference in San Jose, California by NVIDIA CEO and Co-Founder, Jen-Hsun Huang during his opening keynote speech
We at HardwareZone.com were privileged to be invited for this forward looking tech conference and one of the first things we're going to share with you is the GT300 architecture codenamed Fermi.
The cards have the same number of CUDA processors (shader units), 16, and even operate at the same speed. Not to mention the physical design that is also identical.
We have no idea why NVIDIA has launched GeForce 310 and what makes it so much better than GeForce 210. Anyhow we can safely say that the Fermi architecture is nowhere near to launch, very much not in the form of GeForce 310.

the design is like a hybrid of the G9, even the accessories that comes with it is in a tin like the logitech brand. I want one, congrats to the design team
and what is Hydra ? For the most part though Lucid is a venture-capitalist funded company going up against the likes of AMD and Nvidia in trying to create a PCI-E controller that can mix and match graphics cards. Only recently we've been allowed to use both SLI and CrossFire on the same Intel chipset: first X58 and now P55, but never with one card from ATI and one from Nvidia. As SLI and CrossFire work in such fundamentally different ways the Hydra 200 fits between the CPU (with its own PCI-E controller) and the graphics cards, managing their load according to their individual performance.
and a little bad news: There's also quite a long list of games supported, although no Crysis or Modern Warfare 2: the former is a shame and the latter is a complete oversight in our opinion. We're still waiting on MSI for an exact list for the retail 1.4.1 driver in addition to the ones we've tested and we'll try to update this a bit later.
But the future looks bright for SLI & crossfire mix n' match !

Well what i been reading looks like Nvidia is slowly prioritizing on the gaming market and community, not counting the fiascos from last year. Im not a fan boy since product loyalty gets you nowhere but ATI seen to be putting gamers as their No 1 Priority. It will be very very interesting to see what this new year might bring to computer hardware.

I Think you guys should realy take a look at this,
Its a p55 evga MOBO Intel core i7 860 @ 4.3 air Corsair DDR3 Dual Channel 2100 MHZ air 2 x 275 sli
And the CPU score is 58000 and GPU 24000 over all score 58500 and this is on preformance, correct me if i am wrong but do more GFX cards lower you cpu score at all.

Fermi might be groundbreaking technology, but if the price is also wallet breaking that you have to sell you kidneys and corneas to buy a gpu card then i dont see alot of people buying it.

I'll pimp out my bitches in that corner you suggest. Sell pig kidneys cause there the closest to human kidneys, making ends meat just to get this card.
I've been Ati for too long. I've noticed how much smoother the games look with Nvidia cards. Gathered from the Screenshots a few of our members + community have. There game doesn't look as blocky as mine. It looks like they are running AA when they are not.

Will be my next set of hardware. In preparation for Crysis 2, Starcraft 2 + Diablo 3
