| Hey guys, I'm just building a new PC for my little bro, my mum wants me to get him one, she's supplying the funds. I need to get him the whole tower and monitor + mouse and keyboard for under $1500. I'm not really up to date with whats good and all that out there so I guess I'm in need of recommendations. Cheers in advance. Can the parts also preferably be from MSY. Cheers. |

| CPU: core i7 950 MoBo: asus x58 xtreme RAM: 6gb DDR3 Patriot-S 1600mhz ram HDD: 1.5tb Samsung or Western Digital or Seagate 7200RPM HDD (your choice) GPU: gigabyte 460gtx 768mb (inno3D or Gigabyte) Monitor: LG Flatron 21.5 inch LED monitor DVD: LG DVD Burners x2 Coolermaster RC-600 Case comes with 500W PSU Mouse and Keyboard (your choice)
i bought this setup for my cousin last week all from MSY down here in melbourne for approx 1400 leaving enough for a keyboard and mouse. runs crysis wars at 1920x1080 with good visuals at a constant framerate so you would know it can run other games at the same level if not better.
is this including speakers? if it is, you can downgrade the 950 to a 930 and save about 20dollars there and change the LED to a normal LCD and save another $40 dollars there leaving some extra cash in the pocket

| Easily can get Q6600 and 8800GT or 5770 with 4gb DDR2, dvd drive, 1tb harddrive, decent mobo to support it all + more for expanding, 24" screen, nice keyboard and mouse for that price range
that shit equivalent cost me that much couple years back, so NOW you could get whatever the upgrades are, probably alot better in terms of CPU and GPU., probs DDR3 ram.
EDIT: lol syler just beat me to it, his set up is an example of upgrades on mine. |

I agree, what karma said, beast of a PC |

| save urself some bucks buy a generic case with enough vents and 500psu, 60 to 100 bucks, also virt...its common knowledge, not change lol stupid people rush to have the best first, smart people wait and save. Computers are like phones or cars, superseded within the next 2-6 months. No point rushing out when u can wait for the lovely price drop and second hand units to hit the streets when the stupid ppl decide for their weekly update. |

| If you want a build without doing hardly any research and in your price range then follow Sylers, yes you can wait for a price drop if any or new tech but that cycle can continue and you would be waiting a few months. You could even buy these in the US for cheaper with postage, the exchange is at .968 atm and will drop like it has before. Amazon probably have these parts and will ship here. |

| Here's a thought Serbz. Get your self the set up that Syler post up and give your bro your old one, it's win-win. |

| Cheers, guys. ARNY I tried pulling that trick but mum is the one supplying the funds for his comp and she was like 'fuck off' basically. I'll definitely go with something similar to Syler's setup. Is an i7 necessary? Any good i5's to save me some dollars? |

| imo, if he's using it for some gaming and he's gonna be using it for a long time. i recommend the i7. more futureproof, works better underload and will last him for a couple of years. from what i can tell, he won't be getting another computer anytime soon in the next year or so am i right? better off with the i7. - KarmaFTW wrote:

| Yeah looks like the i7 option would be the way to go. Bro wants a specific case so I'll be pulling out of me own pocket for that off of PC Case Gear. Wants a storm scout. I think the HAF 922 mid tower is a better option however. |

| I agree with everything Slyer said except ati has more power for cheaper than nvidia, so go with ati, i know all of you are big fanboys of nvidia but you have to be realistic if you want power on a buget, ati is better. |

| LoL @ the fan case, all those fans are blowing into the case, you'd think the dumb fucks would at least mount one side in reverse so as to get some good crossflow.
Inside of the case is probably pressure locked and the heat won't be being vented, just a shit load of fans that aren't helping at all and are in fact creating further problems due to the 150 W and 10 amps they are sucking on. |

yeh but in the 200 range a nvidia outperforms it. sure you get more power but you get more quality with nvidia. not saying it as a fanboy either as i have owned more ati cards than nvidia tbh. and i find nvidia much more reliable and better. |

| ASRock is a PC company, which make their technology. Their products are good, my last mobo was ASRock and it was the first mobo to support both cxfire and sli for the one mobo, most of their mobo try to be unique and do what other companies not attempt. |

| yeh the mobo you have gone with serbz, supports both sli and crossfire, so if you ever decide to go ati sli, you'll have no need to get a new mobo |

No they don't, The 5970 and GTX 480 cost pretty much the same amount yet the 5970 way outpreforms the 480 Plus the GTX 470 has lower preformance than both the 5870 and 5850 with the 5870 being slightly more expensive and the 5850 being less expensive. |
