Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB or HD 5850 1GB

Hey guys I'm not sure what would be good to buy so I thought I would ask what some of you think would be good to buy. I'm thinking of buying a Gigayte GTX 460 1GB, but when comparing the 2 cards the 5850 seems to have the upper hand on it so now I need some advice what I should get so that all games like crysis 2, crysis, bc2 and etc will run also to be able to maintain around 150-200fps when playing online on low spec.

In some cases I have been considering getting a 5870

I would go for nvidia, those cards respond better to the crytek engine, and the nvidia drivers are much better than the ati, which have been releasing every 2 weeks recently but do shit.

dont listen to karma, he's never owned anything other than nvidia is my bet. I've had my 4850 for a while now no issues with drivers and such apart from the memory leak 10.7 borderlands issue. Previously I had a 8800 nvidia and I noticed great gains out of the ATI compared to the Nvidia when playing crysis.

i have owned both nvidia and ati. i would recommend the gtx460 1gb. i own 2 of them. i am able to get 60fps on all graphics maxed out without AA on crysis, crysis wars etc with just one 460. the 5850 is a good card but seeing as your a crysis player nvidia is far better as nvidia is supported by crysis. i have tested the 5850 and find it gives more power but the 460 gives more quality.

Dess I am using a 4890HD so know before you speak, my last cards were 8800gts640mb, 6800LE, and so one till my first card being ati 9800something something.

Go Nvidia, ATIs drivers are fucked. Plus SLI gtx 460s will destroy absolutely everything under 5870 cfx if you decide to upgrade in the future.

GTX460 1GB overclocked = 5870

So yes Asus GTX460 1GB would be my choice for sure Smile

ATI are good but they do have there problems just like nvidia. Currently Nvidia has the better tech out at the moment.

You can try wait for the new ATI 6000 series due October/November.

It's like this.

You buy a BMW - Classy with quality = Nvidia

You buy a Jap car - Power with cheap mods = Ati

Both have there strengths

Quality Vs Power

I would recommend an Nvidia. I've had both cards. Ati's tend to have a more blocky picture compared to the Nvidia's from what I have experienced.
