why convert it to VGA ? is that a tv screen and not a computer monitor?

DVI is way better quality than VGA.

i use HDMI for my xbox, cause its easier that way. HDMI's good if you got like a 52" plasma screen n stuff.

i know DVI allows higher res and better quality than VGA

if its a monitor, that is incredibly fuckin weird it doesnt have DVI seeing as it goes VGA<DVI<HDMI

dvi sends the digital info straight from ur video card to your monitor, VGA converts the digital data to RGB information for your monitor to then process... using VGA can result in ghosted or dancing pixels, or gradient banding.. larger the res the more you can notice. but youve gota be really anal to notice, if the monitor looks fine it doesnt make a diff.

using two 22" screens and using VGA upon buying them because i forgot to get some DVI cables (nothing comes with em and i didnt have any at home) i used VGA and i didnt mind.
but when i got DVI i really noticed it, especially because i could up the res so not only did i go 'holy shit this looks nicer' but i could make everything at a high res, and cram even more on!

it didnt limit it, i'd say it just allowed me to use a larger res.

before, my 22" on the left could only go up to 1440x900 or whatever, now it can go up to 1650x1080 or whatever it is. by now i mean the only thing i changed ONLY THING was give it a DVI cable.

YES tulzer, get a FUCKING ruler and MEASURE IT and stand there with a cheesy grin showing me its 42 inch from the bottom left of the LCD SCREEN to the top right.
better get a tape measure unless you're the kind of freak who keeps 50" rulers lying around that actually measure in inches.

EDIT: fuck i said HDMI instead of DVI cable before, fixed..

if you set it up properly the hdmi will look alot better. and dog, the VGA cable could not have possibly limited your resolution, it mustve been your gpu drivers. if it changed the max res when you plugged the dvi cable in well thats just weird, because you can always enable the native resolution in your driver by disabling 'hide resolutions this monitor cannot display'

VGA sucks balls compared to DVI/HDMI (same thing, different connector). Feel like i need glasses when looking on a VGA/DSub connection.
