What do people think of this game? It stood out as interesting during E3 for me, reminds me of a sort of Unreal Tournament/TF2 Gameplay with Borderlands art style, and I initially compared it with Rage although they are quite different games. Very much sort of a cyberpunk style, I like the idea of introducing parkour mobility into an fps environment.

Looks fun! If I can say one thing, that rip in his jeans is taking style to a whole new level lol.
* - If you think of it purely as a solo game and you’re not going to replay any of it and you only play through both of the storylines, you’re looking at about ten hours plus of gameplay. * - If you're playing solo, you'll see the same guys in the opening and closing cutscenes. If you're online, the guys in the cutscenes will actually be the characters of the people you'll be playing with. * - Head bob can be turned on/off on both PC and console * - If you’re playing Brink in Free Play mode, you can change your faction freely at any point and effectively become part of the “enemy” team, as well as change other settings (FF on/off, voip on/off, etc.) * - Each mode can be played entirely online 8v8, meaning that your campaign can be played against real people who are playing their version of the campaign against you. * - If you are at a point in your campaign, (online) and you lose the battle, you will be reconnected to a new server with players at the same part as you and you can try again, while the winners remain to fight the next battle. I guess you can think of it as, “Losers walk.” * - Global voice chat/VOIP is turned off by default, meaning the only voices you hear in-game are from NPC’s and your friends. You can toggle it on if you wish. * - Auto balance will be implemented. If there is only 2 human players on your team, the rest will be filled with bots. Of course, you can disable this feature and have only human players present. * - Levels will feature various interactive objects such as terminals and computers, all of which work faster when multiple people work together to activate them. * - There is a level cap and you will not be able to max out your level on one play so the game also offers a lot of replay value. * - Splitscreen is NOT supported.
The way they've done 'single player' is quite cool. AI sounds good

"Our AI is fully autonomous; that is to say it levels up alongside you, it can use every ability, tool, item you can; it can make decisions for itself. For example, ‘We haven’t got a Medic, I’ll become a Medic’. Or thinking tactically, ‘I’m going to stick a landmine in this doorway, because I think it’s a threat to the command post I just captured’. The tactics that they use are based on the abilities that they have and that you’ve unlocked. So if you unlock the big heavy character with the minigun, you’ll be playing games with AI that also have access to that.” - Paul Wedgwood, CEO - Splash Damage
“AI is capable of doing literally every action that you can, which makes for much more exciting and dynamic gameplay. Not only are the enemies more ruthless and surprising, but your teammates are more self reliant and useful. In Brink, you won’t have to babysit your AI squad mates and make sure they do their jobs. Actually, if you’re not doing well, they’ll babysit you!” - Richard Ham, Creative Director
“Our AI players are very, VERY good. In fact, several times we’ve had people not realize that they are playing the AI players, and these are quite hardened journalists. They become very angry, it’s very funny… So we can guarantee good teammates.” - Ed Stern, Senior Game Designer

After much deliberation, I ordered this game for $36.99 from http://www.ozgameshop.com/pc-games/brink-game-pc Free shipping, but I don't know if it comes with a preorder bonus as it doesn't say anywhere on the site. Don't think I could have gotten it cheaper anywhere else.
Arrival will probably take within 2 weeks of the May 13 release date.
This game also needs a STEAM account to play, so once I get the game and make one, I'll let you know my deets.

Currently some ATI users (myself included) get rather crappy fps (20-40 for me) and if you change your FoV (default is 70), when you're playing online every time you sprint/climb it snaps back to 70 for the duration of that action. Both are probably getting fixed soon, but that's stopping me from trying MP atm.

I have a 5970, and there was a patch today that lets me use a diff. FoV and gives me better performance.
However after actually getting to play... one map ALWAYS has no sound in-game (it's for everyone too), the sound frequently bugs out - not telling you.. well anything really (eg. objective status updates) - or muting completely (this happened on a different map to the 'no sound' map and me and someone else in the server simultaneously lost all sound. In that same game about 3 players became invisble to me (one friendly medic whose icon I could see bouncing all over the place when I was dead, and two enemies that killed me but were invisble ingame and on the scoreboard two places on their team were blank (as opposed to not having anything there when no one is filling that spot).
The whole "No OHKs" thing also doesn't seem to apply to light characters, I've been one-shotted by underbarrel grenades frequently - the bolt-action sniper also OHKs light characters with a headshot (definately when damage buffed, not sure otherwise) and it probably also OHKs mediums with a damage buffed headshot.
Reminds me of "Brink: Blurring the lines between single and multiplayer - with your vomit."

I played this game, and i must say, Wow what a piece of crap.
It looked great and sounded insane, then i played the first mission and it was just terrible. My opinion only.

Why does this seem to be a common thread these days? Are companies better at marketing than they are at making the games?

Their are a few things that brink fails at like; animation, graphics, guns, sound.

Yeh I played the game a bit, finally after dealing with a few assignments, and I'm not happy overall.
I quite liked the premise, the way it looks and handles. It was fun playing through the 'campaign' even if the AI was pretty shit despite the PR praise. But Multiplayer just fell flat on its face, and the parkour was hardly used at all despite that being the most marketed aspect of it. And the customisation is pretty shitty.
It feels like a game mode within a larger game, like what L4D feels like. Also the multiplayer plays like shit; terrible lag makes it almost unplayable sometimes and tiny matches on linear maps that only look great but dont make the most of the games capabilities
However, there is meant to be the modding ability coming out, I think the community could really make something good with it.. if there is a community left.

I fucking miss demos, made it so much easier to help decide whether or not I would buy a game.
If publishers released free demos that had a considerable amount of content showed in them, enough to get you hooked, I'm sure piracy would go down quite a bit.

Or even if they released the demo BEFORE the game goes gold. Granted it's then a Beta, but it saves headaches and a poor reception of the game.

Its a combination of things, its just an arkward game to play, the AI sucks and it just seems like they tried a little to hard at designing it, everything is a little too complex and overdone (except the AI).

I played 3hrs. I was done.
I think I've hit a point in my life in which games are so boring. Nothing worth sitting around for these days
