Hey everyone it's been a while, I'm looking at building a new computer, I've been out of the tech scene for a while so I'm not sure what is currently good and what will be good in the near future. I'm looking at buying a PC around Xmas time need to re-update. I'm looking at getting something higher up the tech chain, so I'd like to see what you guys can come up with before I worry about price too much. All I need is a tower. SLI and all that would be nice too

GFX: sli 570's = more performance + costs less than a 590 (FPS vs cost is more efficent with 570's than 580's)
CPU: intel 2600K of course, but the next generation of cpu's is just around the bend.

Well I'll be shipping my current computer to Serbia or selling it maybe cos I'll have no longer need for it. So umm, how about 2 - 2.5k meaning everything that goes in the tower lol. I won't be using any old parts from my current comp.

I just built a PC for the old man....cost me in total $1065.
including a i7 2600, z68 giga mobo, antec 300 case, 24inch LED samsung, slapped in it a ATI HD5670, generic 650w PSU, 4gb Kingston RAM and a bluray burner lol

the rig represented it made up of the best gaming rig you probably could get for the price range

so if you break it down.....
- the 2600K has an unlocked multiplier and can be oc'ed to incredible levels, so it wont need to be upgraded for a quite some time
- the Mobo is SLI compatible and therefore doesn't need to be replaced if you choose to sli in the future ( or present)
- along with the above 2, the PSU and case dont need to be replaced for years as they are capable to handle a huge load of power from a large quantity of hardware which can be mounted into the case at any one time
- HDD and RAM wise, these are the best of the best(performance for price) and quite affordable in this budget range
- The GFX cards, well these are the most replaceable items of the whole rig. This is because they can be replaced in the future without affecting any other hardware. So the best thing to do is to get best and most amount of frames per second for the price you are paying. These 570s are exactly that

Howcome the HDD is only 120gb or whatever? :S I would need more space than that lol.

It's a solid state drive Serbz no moving parts you use this as your boot drive ,and it has the OS (operating system)& you would nee a 1tb hdd for storage etc. The power supply in my opinion is a little bit of over kill Tulz as is 16gb ram I only have a 6gb triple channel in mine & that is fine for the next 3 yrs of current gaming the I7 2600k is spot on though if I had the money to upgrade it is what I'd go for the case choice is also overkill it would be a better fit in a CoolerMaster CM 690II Adv unless your looking at going liquid cooling even then there are some complete loop systems around now that would also fit in well that's my bag out & some food for thought Serbz GO THE FRO'
P.S. as I said before you can pick up most of this stuff through OCAU for a fraction of the price if your not in a hurry

as stated the ram is"the best of the best", but hell yeah it can be turned down to just 8Gb so save some dow

The powersupply is a future proof purchase as you wont need to upgrade in the future even if you sli 2x GTX590

liquid cooling is quite available in this buget range but that only if you want to 'go there'....

I assumed you might want to keep your old hard drive from your old comp, for storage..... but if not i would add 2x 1TB Seagate at $59 each, then configure them in raid 0 functionality.

@ Tulz i have an OZC 950 Mod extreme that I am running 2x 5870's & an 8800 gts PhysX (all quite power hungry) without it skipping a beat and of course 2tb is always better than 1 lol GO THE FRO'

yeah i was browsing the hard drive section and there are even 2 and 3 TB drives... but if you can fill up 2 u really need to see a hoarding specialist lol

Serbz i came across some MSI 480's New in OEM box for $300 US. While not the latest cards on offer, for 300 bucks in sli it's hard to beet that price. You can get 43000 plus score with 2 of these which is more than enough to run any game at max settings.
