| just wondering what the difference between mp3 and FLAC is? supposedly the quality of FLAC is better.
is it really that much of difference? i have noticed that the size difference is huge 0.o?
i am a music fanatic and like listening to quality sound being produced by my speakers so is it worth downloading the? |

| Yeah if the size of FLAC is larger than there would be better quality. |

| FLAC uses loseless compression, whilst mp3 uses losy compression, you will gain very little if any sound quality, mp3 @ 320kb/s is what most mp3 codecs use, imo not much difference, no use downloading. Tho you should try one song and see if you notice a difference.
Mp3 is more convenient imo. |

| yeh ill try downloading one, if the sound quality isn't too much different then i won't bother as they are large. however if they do provide a good amount of sound difference then ill give downloading them a go more often |

| You also would probably need $$$ equipment to match the quality you want to hear from a FLAC file. |

Yeah, you need REALLY good equipment to really notice. If youre an audiophile it'd matter, but mp3 at 320kbs is perfectly fine. |

| i really doubt you have the equipment (or the hearing) needed to notice the the difference.
its essentially the difference between jpeg and RAW. youd have to work in the audio industry 9 hours a day to even notice. any flac files u get ud have to convert them to mp3 yourself to use them in anything so you may as well download the mp3 version.
unless you're working in hollywood and need the raw audio data to make the sequel to avatar. |

| yes, if an architect specificually designed the room the system is in for sound dynamics.
but seriosuly ive downloaded a few flac albums just for bragging rights but i had to convert them all and delete the flac files. they sounded better once they were mp3s because anything i played them in couldnt handle them just like you gotta buffer 1080p mkvs in wmp |

| its a square room with no windows. only things in there are a tv, couch, a projector in a retractable compartment in the ceiling, and speaker system. home made room i see what you mean though about FLAC files. ill try downloading a song, FLAC and mp3(320kbps) version and try em out to see the difference. altho based on what your saying, seems like it won't be any different. |

| downloaded a flac and a mp3 file last night.. didn't find too much of a difference to be honest. maybe a little bit clearer in some parts of the room. but other then that, not much difference at all |
