LOL you're kidding right? your mates are idiots. a PC can be better then an xbox but it cant it depends entirely on the PC build. these days most gaming rigs shit on it, pretty much all of FTW's PCs will eat it and spit it out. the only advantage it has is that the games are optimized on it.

there is NOTHING in the world that can beat crysis in graphics IF you go to the trouble of running it at its potential.

xbox is good for FIFA and Halo the end. in terms of graphics and power it can suck my GTX295's red-hot-nuts.

XBOX 360 is basically a computer with its own OS, as is the PS3.
the XBOX 360 has the traditional graphics and processor,
HOWEVER; the PS3 uses an 8 core processor to do everything, and tiny graphics card onboard for some basic stuff. 6 cores are used for graphics, 1 for CPU, and 1 is a spare in case another malfunctions.

the PS3 is good for maintaining quality over various resolutions (graphics can be rendered in vector form), but needs to load the games into its harddrive so it can load everything up fast enough.
also due to being an 8 fucking core processor, it generates enough heat to cook your steak



the xbox doesnt need to go through arduous load times because it spins the disc fast enough to read it all. so fast in fact it sounds like a helicopter about to take off. ZOOOOOOOOOM!


both consoles faced initial problems at launch: XBOX could red ring with a very high chance due to some wires being melted by heat, and after cooling down re-soldering to someting else and forming a short (amongst other reasons). That has been mostly fixed



the PS3 had overheating issues as well, due to people storing it in stupid places so the heat would reflect back at it or not be dispersed properly (such as in a cabinet or under a TV or somethin) and cause it to fuck up within a week of regular use.




the pros are: both can play multimedia, with various restrictions (such as XBOX360 can only read FAT32 drives and not NTFS, despite that being propietary PC format), the PS3 has wireless net connection but fixed line net is definately faster. it was also the first thing to tout a Blu-Ray player, however it is pretty shit compared to ones you can get these days and would also be the most expensive blu-ray you can get. better off buying a seperate unit, and shit all range of movies are out on blu-ray yet.
both do HDMI and what not, both have a decent range of games.
both also, importantly, FUCKING PLAY GAMES.


however, the PS3 has long been overpriced, and Aus gets jipped due to price inflations of the components used to make it, that aren't taken into account for currency Vs currency values. cant find the exact words and i dont follow financial stuff but essentially we used to and possibly still paid like $100 more for no reason at all, just different value in currency.
due to the PS3 being overpriced and not selling as well as the XBOX, many major game makers also threatened to pull out major game titles from being released on PS3, upping pressure and meaning the XBOX is going to have a bigger range of better games available than the PS3.
also, initially the only version of the ps3 sold in Aus was not only overpriced, but was not backwards compatible with PS2 games as well as a smaller harddrive and other problems, while the XBOX360 was.

essentially, youre better off with an xbox UNLESS everyone you know is rich and owns a PS3 already. then you can play for free with your friends.

however, the Ninentdo 64 kicks both their arses because you could play with up to 3 other friends IN THE SAME FUCKING ROOM with GROUND BREAKING GAMES like Perfect Dark and Super Smash Bros. shit that was just fun to play and you wouldn't have bitch fits over.

the PC, is always going to be more powerful. also more expensive. but its a fucking computer and can do whatever you want without the same propietary software it comes with (you can use Mac or Windows, or Linux and derivations.) it can make documents, pictures, edit audio video, play back any audio video, fucking anything and everything. also you get free online play and have greater control over everything.

the PC can be continually upgraded where as a better console requires you purchasing an entirely new one, has tons of more functions, the list just goes on and on and on.

the only downsides are you get varying controls amongst PC games, though this can be a benefit since you can do more functions at once than with a few joysticks and buttons, allowing you to play more complex games.
on top of that, if youre a total nobjockey when it comes to understanding computers, you'll forever run into problems with compatibility because UNLIKE CONSOLES, computers are always different to one another. so what may work well on one wont work so well for another, game makers must take this into consideration where as for a console they know each person will have the same machine to run the product.


but, if you fucking wisen up, learn how to use a computer, youll find its better in every way once you're cranking tri screens with crazy graphics and can watch a movie, play crysis 2 and max graphics, and jerk off onto the screen containing your retarded friends conversations because they dont have anything as awesome as what your rich daddy bought you.

XBOX has pretty good graphics, and statistically is better than like 75% of the computers people own today.

and yes, if you really wanted to you could fix the XBOX parts yourself. or send it to get repaired. it'd end up the same as a computer, possibly less if your comp was really fucked.

and you cant really do the same for PC, you'd need to go to a computer repair person, OR know how to install computer parts yourself and then buy the parts from some computer place anyways.

you can send your XBOX off under warranty to get fixed for free, if its covered. otherwise im sure there are some places that could do it as well.

and the costs could still be very different.
