| Hey mate,
Corsair have a 1000W psu and its pretty good.
If you are looking at more that 1000W to be save then the following may be a good choice
Thermaltake Toughpower 1500Watt Silverstone 1200 Watt |

| What are you powering that you -need- 1000w?
A heavily overclocked Q6600 + 2x4870 in CF uses about 450w of power under 100% system load.
Either way, Corsair HX-1000. |

| Thermaltake Toughpower have a 1200 w PSU that has heaps of amps on the 12 v rail i think, but a Corsair HX-1000 with do unless u running 2 GTX 295 and 6 HDD in Raid 0 and a core i7 cpu then u might wanna look at a psu over 1000 w http://www.corsair.com/psufinder/default.aspx |

| Even Quad-SLI 295's and an overclocked i7 will use 600-700w of power under full system load. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3520&p=11http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1707/nvidia_s_geforce_gtx_295_in_quad_sli/index11.html1000w would be perfectly suited to that level of system. People do overcompensate PSU's far too much in some cases. I've heard people wanting 1200w PSU's for 9800GTX SLI systems before, the PSU would be at like 30-40% load. A PSU's efficiency gets much better towards the higher end of the loading scale, so it's actually better to run them at a higher load, from an efficiency point of view. The other point of view is one of longevity. 50% load is absolutely plenty to ensure your PSU is going to last a number of years, certainly outlast the parts it will be powering that you will upgrade in a few years time or less. You gotta remember, these power figures quoted are "100% system load" which means the CPU is at 100% and the GPU is at 100%. How many of you with your i7 rigs see your CPU at 50% let alone 100%? 65-75% is where i think the sweet spot is which is why i went for the HX-620 on my system. My current setup uses 300w under 100% load, but at the time when i bought the PSU i had the Q6600 and it was closer to 400w. It will hit the spot when i move over to i7.

| I have to beg to differ with you there Shinanigans watch the video that i post. all sytem builds that i have seen with x58 MOBO have had PSU s over 1000 w ,and how can a psu work better under load when electrical componets get hot they cause more resitance. Got 2 4:30 min in video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRajYOUdI2o |

Got 2 4:30 min in video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRajYOUdI2o Dunno why you'd take evidence from a youtube video over two separate, highly technical and indepth articles from sources that are trusted by millions, that both say the same thing. But i can tell you why that system is using 800-900w... in that video they're using a 9800GT for PhysX as well, so there's 5 GPU's all up, that'd add an extra 100w+ ... and, the GTX295's have the absolute fuck overclocked out of them, overvolted and at a 780MHz core and 1224MHz Mem... the difference in such an excessive overclock power draw would probably make another 100w on it's own on 4 GPU's. Finally, they're using a 965 @ 4.4GHz. |

| U do make a good point, Personaly i dont have a a clue about electronics.... but that video dose still show you the wattage that u will need to run a setup like that .What is tulzer going to use it for that he needs a psu over 1000w though. |

| Tulzer have a look at the Xigmatek 1200w, these are made buy a well known supplier and well priced. As for the Antec 1000w the only thing wrong with them is, if you have or are planing to go SLI the pcie leads are on the the same rail which is NOT good. If you are going to buy a 1k psu you may as well get the 1200w as it gives you that little bit more scope to cover any future upgrades, and you do need 1000w+ for a x58, i7, 6g+ ram, sli with high end cards, 3+ hd rigg. I have a set up like this and with a 850w psu it was Very unstable when OC'ed and bench testing, would give very poor fps or crash. Have a look here, will tell you what you need. http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jspRemember to allow for age of psu. |
