so im seriously starting planning videos on crysis tutorials, but rather than like ruin a good idea with my unclassy australian teenage voice, i thought i'd get some computer to mock people and do the narrating for me

you can make text to voice, but you need a mac with word and automator.

types everyfin you say and it can change it to about 20-30different voices XD

windows has a reader built it, if you can record your output your set.

i thought about text, but i realised that its bad enough if this shit has to go up on youtube (most easily accesible and findable medium) and that alot of what goes on in the screen will be too blurry and this requires alot of attention to teach people what to look for, especially with visual aids. text will take up WAY too much space on the screen.

a voiceover is needed and text has to be removed completely , really. besides, if you get a nice voice and some sort of witty-ish, helpful dialog, more likely to help people sit and watch and absorb. rather than get bored.

also, yeah the way ive planned it theres gonna be alot of tutorials and theyll be kinda long
i want to make like 5-6 minute segments covering different topics so people can go to specific ones if they so desire. but theres alot of material to cover, cant just become a Crysis super star over night.

also you could try the purple asthma preventative spray, i think it is called seretide and is different from the typical ventolin inhaler. I have a few issues at the moment because when i ride my bike at night its cold and people are burning fires and the smoke makes me wheeze.

cold makes me bad. just being in the cold that is. cold air. if you wear a scarf use it to cover your mouth lightly, helps a bit unless breathing in the scarf itself makes you feel bad.

hmm, the Cepstral voices of Emily at the pitch Low, and Amy are the two im thinking of using.
shit both got their pros and cons, hmm.. Amy sounds like an attractive and more audible voice but Emily is softer and more condescending which is funny.


EDIT: zomg i keep changing it. hmm Amy on Low sounds good. then id have to do further audio editing to touch it up n cut stuff together. Emily voice also seems to trip up more on some sounds which is annoying.

I vote wounded, actually, use all of ftw !
maybe you can use different "talented" ftw voiceovers for more effect and creatvity !

But seriously, when it comes to tutorials, your onto the right idea by placing speech over text as people are lazy and dont like reading.

A good idea would be to make the tutorial vids exciting too, not just a mundane rambling on about what you should and shouldnt do in Wars. Maybe provide a 'Presenter' character if you can do character editing and movements?

Find some more colaboraters, set up a scene board of how you want the tutorials to look and pan out and your bound to get a decent video made.

Who knows, if you do it well enough it may get endorsed by Crytek!

(Provide me with a script of your ideas and I may find some time to draw up a few scene ideas even)

lol im cranking the star wars now for inspiration! haha

i planned on using the Text to Speech as not only the way to give people hints and stuff, but create a little bit of dialog that may be amusing. kinda figured since Portal was released, female synthesised voices are synonymous with fun times =P
so the voice will help create a character that will make the tutorial interesting, provided i write good lines.


i plan on having the series of videos which will cover different things. one will cover the absolute bare basics of setting up and getting comfy with crysis, another will talk about weapons, another about vehicles, the different game modes, tactics, etc..
and theyll have to be done in an order that makes sense to follow.

I totally agree with craterface. He is on a winner there.
Done properly you should be storyborading all your ideas just like a producer/ director, that way you can visualise, gauge and "test" what it is you are trying to present.
Also, there is something tangible and concrete so whenyou put it down and need to pick up again after a break you can always have something to resume from.
By getting others involved then there is more chance the project will take off and work instead of just a solo effort, because it does sound like quite a daunting and huge task.
