Are you familiar with martin logan electrostatic flat panel speaker knowledge ?
what happens if you have them cranked up and some family member walks past with their dinner ?
Will those things suck the knife, spoon and fork and any other metal substance right off the plate and through the freakin' speaker panels ?
And there was one particular model with built in power amplifiers.
Is that a good option ? or do you recommend separate amplifiers and passive speakers ?
I am not very familiar with active speakers and their performance.

These speakers are a very uppermarket speaker, not very common in households as they confuse most people as to what they do. An electro static speaker basically sends an electric signal along the fibrous strand which creates tiny waves in the ribbons, they are marked as a very close to 'flat' responsive speaker (which means they perform very well at reproducing the closest possible sound to the original recording)
Active and passive basically means if it has on-board power amp or not.

As all amps are produced differently I could not say if the provided amp is the best for the speakers or not but it is generally accepted that they are designed specifically for those speakers.
The magnets do not have enough area of effect to drag metallic objects into the ribbons themselves, if the magnets had too much pooling area they would affect the other speaker magnets

These speakers are usually designed by audio engineers and require some very DEEP technical expertise.
But to be honest I am not an expert on these systems and I only deal with car audio at this stage which is an entire different platform.

love the sound of flat panels. Once i heard them I HAD to have them ! They look pretty too and are a great conversation piece since you are right, they are not you common garden variety sound system pieces.
The sound is very enriching, so clear. Vocals sound so real !! The mids and highs are just so sweet and elegant, like the violins and strings, they are so lifelike, very much like a live performance happening right in your very own room. The bass is punchy and solid... damn I miss my home entertainment system ! I hate renting !!! everything is packed into storage.
well, if and when we upgrade I'll let you know what we end up getting and see if we can make you wet your pants (but the new home has to come first !!! )
