| Well here it is, a different angled approach for Ford. Holden's engines just keep getting bigger and bigger, the new Ford engine has smaller capacity, lighter block, supercharged, better fuel economy more killer wasps. http://www.fpv.com.au/the-new-boss-v8.aspxShould be an interesting drive anyway when it gets here. |

| I couldn't tell you Charlie if there going cheapo or not......sadly this day and age its all about cost cutting. But personally I don't think so, looking at the engine specs it should be a solid enough engine. - Quote :

Yes the new Fords aren't my cup of tea either, hence why I own a BF. |

| yea going back to the 5 litre engine blew me away wen i was told about it a while ago, the thing that is awesome is that the engine is close to 300 kw naturally aspirated, therefor resulting in no strain on the engine via supercharger, would be so easy to increase power outputs with simple ecu tuning |

| This is the 5L version of the original US quad cam that Ford should have used instead of the bastardised Boss engine. |

| Yep from what I have been told 90% of it is the American version with a few mods to bring it up Aus standards. This is the engine as it would be without the S/C added. The intake manifold reminds me of a Holden engine. Would of been nice to have this in my bf xr8 as standard, then it would of kept up with the xr6t and F6. |

| not quiet as simple as the chev, but still plenty of room to improve. are they just using this engine as a one off on the coyote or are they rolling the 5 litre off the line now |

| Boots mate im not to sure about that, Ford has talked about only having the FPV with this spec engine......no word at all has been said about the boss 260/barra 220 equivalent coming out as mass production.(i hope its not a one off!!!). Its a shame the asking price is around $70g's and well that money is not just sitting in the bank. More info I found out: -A Fords spokesman claimed that their tests suggested very fast 0-100km/h and more importantly 80-120km/h times, suggesting acceleration would be inline with some Porsches and Aston Martins. -FPV will reveal the new engine at Bathurst on October 7th, 2010 with sales starting soon after. Pricing is yet to be announced, but FPV boss Rod Barrett says that the GT will come in at under $70,000. -Fuel consumption -FPV GS sedan – * Manual – 13.6L/100km * Auto – 13.7L/100km FPV GS ute - * Manual – 14.0L/100km * Auto – 14.2L/100km FPV GT/GTP/GTE sedan - * Manual – 13.6L/100km * Auto – 13.7L/100km -In terms of the technical side of FPV’s new V8, an uprated ZF Sachs automatic gearbox (6HP26) replaces the outgoing unit. The new gearbox features a 7-plate clutch pack and 4-planet planetary gear set for higher torque capacity. -Development testing equated to an equivalent of 10 years and 250,000km of driving. It was described as the “most comprehensive test program ever” by Prodrive. I'm liking this sound engine very much!!!! |

Shit i just payed $69,990 for a GT for the missus! Oh wait, wrong brand that was a stinking Mazda CX9. Now i'm really depressed lol. I could see me in one of these New 5L GT's. Wounder if i could convince her how much better it would be than a shit box Mazda. |

| haha yea tell her its an expensive stress release device, just let the revs out once a morning you'll feel great day in day out,
yea i just went and took the new FG pursuit ute out for a test drive, had exhaust air and a tune at byrne ford brisbane, holy shit in hell that thing is nuts, they say you wont have trouble keepin the back end on the ground think again, the ford representative drove first put his foot down not realising he was doing burning out on gympie road into second gear, and this thing has a supercharger lol |

| Yeah Arny I think honestly it will be a hard task, you know what there like lol. But this will be the maker for Ford, a bloody good change. The only thing that many put you off will be the body shape grows on some, but for me I'm not a fan. Sounds like the pursuit has got some grunt there boots, what power output you think? |

| 315 stock so im guessing around 251kw at the wheels (going from mine stock 290 at fly on dyno 236rwkw)... then you have the air kit around 10kw then exhaust 10-20kw and the tune around 30-40kw, so yea i rekon around then 300rwkw mark, was very nice |

| That's healthy....so that leads me to my next question. What to do from here...Im gonna still S/C mine...Arny wants the new v8 5Lt S/C donk coming out understandable!!!! whats your plans boots? I stand corrected to Boots, I found out they are bring the Coyote 5Lt to all the falcon range check it. In its naturally-aspirated form the 'Coyote' 5.0 litre engine produces 307kW and 529Nm of torque! (not bad) |

| good, yea the 5.4 was a good engine, but no room for improvement, this one leaves plenty of room for improvement, i am still going to give mine a good work out, i dont like the shape of the FG range but i do love the interior, a couple years down the track i might have a look at a FG |

| Yeah 5.4 has been good to me despite the way it was made and constructed. The Coyote N/A making 307kW and 529Nm of torque......that supercharged with a smaller pulley will make huge gains over the stock pulley. I'm guessing if the engine has the rating for it you could look at around (360-370kws 500hp engine) with just that single mod alone FG would be the way to go for performance in the end!!! |

| yea well its only pumping .4psi throught super charger, bring that upto 6psi and your laughing, the supercharger has parts from america but is designed in melbourne by harrop, im pretty sure simple tune will do massive gains.
i would think the engine can pull at least 400kw at wheels, with the new clutch, gearbox and diff there should be no probs |

| lol 400kw at wheels, better get ur tail shaft looked at too I think if u gonna be trompin it, thats alot of horsies trying to go down to the diff. May as well get 460kw at wheels then you'll have a 10 second car.
