- Participants in ACTA meetings
Australia, Canada, the European Union (represented by the European Commission, and the European Union President), Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States are participating in ACTA negotiations.
Objectives of the ACTA The participants in ACTA negotiations intend to use the ACTA to establish a new standard of intellectual property (IP) enforcement to combat the high levels of commercial scale trade in counterfeit and pirated goods worldwide. Participants intend that the ACTA improve intellectual property enforcement by:
* improving enforcement international cooperation; * establishing enforcement best practice; and * enhancing the enforcement legal framework.
The participants in ACTA negotiations do not intend that the ACTA target individuals, the privacy of individuals or the property of individuals where those individuals are not engaged in commercial scale trade in counterfeit and pirate goods. | Well, I only really get games for MP which means working cd keys are needed and since I tend to stick with a game for a while rather than getting every new fps that comes it it doesn't really cost much so no worry for me.
I personally don't really download any songs/movies either but my brother is a different story... |

| I bring it up as well as some FTW guys posted in the FTW section about TPG sending out copyright infringement notices, this could be giving more power to the arm of the law.
Alternatively you can get some sort of encoding for your torrenting, I forget what its called, some kind of protector, so the IP doesn't know what you're downloading. Gets around that issue.
Or get behind 7 proxies, goodluck, etc. |

I don't think it is TPG as much as it is the actual company that made what ever you are downloading. We got an email from them saying they got a complaint from Warner Bros. Pictures that one of there IP addresses had downloaded a movie illegally so I'm guessing it's more the companies baiting in people then reporting them to the ISPs. |

They can't prove you didn't record them yourself in the US and have them sent back from your pimped out house on the miami coast to back here in Australia. |

You think the ISPs are giving out these plans for 'legal torrents' lol common theyre not that stupid yeh actually they do. legal torrents. sites like bigpond movies. game sites like steam music sites like itunes, internet tv like dessi said even other tv shows like off channel 7,9,10 and all. they aren't stupid. they have a record of everything you download they just don't look at them. the only difference that occurs when the internet filter comes out is they'll start looking up on the records and fuck you over. vpn, ssh wont help you at all no matter what in the end you'll get fucked over for them as well. |

In all seriousness they'll find a way to fuck you for it, as technically by uploading a recording of a show you are re-broadcasting it which isn't allowed without permission and licensing, kinda like you are not allowed to buy a dvd of a movie but then show it in public. Or get cd and then play it in public One thing you could be pinned on is as its a torrent, you are contributing to the whole uploading of the show for other people to access as well However everyone does shit like this all the time; house parties play music to large numbers of people without paying royalties for songs, or having a movie night etc. Some shit they expect you to follow is totally bullshit and in a private setting shouldnt matter. so really, it just comes down to what card they play. Though the ACTA mentions it does not aim to target individuals, but we will see what comes of it |

| downloading, uploading it all gets recorded lol.
when ur downloading from revtt or piratebay, the isp they use or the servers they use, record all the ip's, mac addresses etc connecting to them, uploading and downloading to them, browsing and all.
no matter what ur actions are all recorded somewhere. whether they want to bust you or not is their choice. they're just targeting those who run businesses in downloading files and distributing them. at any time if the authorities wanted to they could most likely just get any information relating to ur ip/mac address and voila ur gone. they just have bigger fish to catch in the piracy world. |
