ok. so a days ago i noticed my comp was going a bit sluggish so i pulled it apart blew it out with my compressor then put it back together. When i started it nothing happen sept the light on the front and the fans. So then i took it apart again and 1 of my stick of ram were fucked. so took that out and booted it up its still sluggish.
so would that mean that stick of ram was ruined a few weeks b4 it started to go slower and slower? or is just my cpu slowly getting older?
SPECS:
mother board: MSI MS-7529 ( only max ram is 4 gigs of 800mhz ) GPU: 9800 gt 1gig cpu: core 2 quad Q8200 at 2.33ghz ( im not looking at ocing as my mobo wont let me go any higher then 2.4 or could u help me with that? ) PSU: 550watt ram: 2gigs 800mhz
plz tell me what going on. it isn't my gpu coz i chucked it in my old pc and ran alright.
or is it just low ram and buy some more?

its only natural for a computer to go sluggish after time. id recommend a new HDD as 99% of the time thats the culprit, get a 10,000RPM HDD, and use ur current one has a external / additional one.
id also recommend investing in a new computer, or some serious upgrades for crysis 2.
some sites that you can get sites from:
centrecom.com.au msy scorptech pccasegear.com
also, be carefull while using air compressors, do you use the pipe or the can? sometimes it can knock loose a capacitor which will stop your computer from booting and give it random restarts.

nah i take off the fans and take out the gpu to blow it all out and its about 30cm away from the side.
yea i thought it might be the hard drive coz u can hear it going then freezes.
and im getting a new comp around about sept

if your getting a new comp. best thing to do is buy a nice cheap HDD, unless you have patience with a HDD thats sluggish. what HDD have u got btw? seagate?

when it freezes the green bar spikes down, seems like your HDD is on its verge of extinction

As for you mother board try and do a update of the bios and see if you are able to adjust the FSB frequency, and update all the Chipset drivers from MSI, when you try and overclock do u only get a overclock profile or are you able to adjust clocks separately try and take a picture of you bios in the overclock section.
And you also might wanna try and replace the ram, the two sticks of ram that you have are they the same, make shure that they are as this could also be the problem, and make shure that your MOBO supports the ram that you buy, i would also get rid of the other old stick of ram and get some corsair with realy low latency timmings like DDR2 800 4-4-4-14 or some shit like that.

thers always ways to speed up the HDD, by disabling auto fetching, and indexing, and disabling startup programs.
msconfig in the run prompt and disable everything you dont need to start up automatically

i have a guide on how to OC you must follow an equation to and from your Vcore, Uncore, and Ram settings. if you never OC'd before best to read up as much as possible as it can give u a head fuck if you get it wrong the first time. G.Skill, sounds good o_O
Be extreamly carefull whilst updating bios, if thers nothing wrong with ur bios settings / configs on the ram, hdd etc, then best leave it as it is, i also have a guide on this id post a link when i get back home from tafe.

As for bios, its best to check your mobo website for a guide, if you want to update bios remember to do it BEFORE OC, after you updated bios youd want to reset OPTIMISED defaults, not factory heres the site which checks for updates from msi http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloadindex

what i7 you getting? i say update your bios if your getting an i7, ive had some tech issues with multiple i7 builts with out bios updates - ram incompatibility / cpu stepping identification, updating bios might seem alittle >.< but gigabyte have a sexy guide / easy to follow.
id say thermalright true black is a great air cooler, with a push pull config, youll b able to OC an i7 920 to about 4-4.5 depending on the stepping, with no probs.
P.S dont listen to joker, hes joking, if you do what he says youll fry your motherboard because your uncore / vcore voltages will be HIGHER than needed. And you cant change the multiplyers to 22 on i7920 you douche!
i suggest you read more on OC'ing joker.

Yea ody, try and get a D0 stepping its easier / better to OC, if you dont know bout the steppings dont worry bout it, but dont do what jokers telling you, if you have the voltages at auto you will have abot 5 degrees more heat then needed, and almost always fuck up the comp. if your guna do OC'ing do it properly or dont do it at all joker

its simple logic more voltage you need = more heat production, less voltage used = less heat production.

[quote="thejoker"]save for a better graphics card.....
and well voltage is minimal......so why would it be higher? it sits at 35 when idle and 70 when full load[/quote
you dont get what im saying, you said you have your voltages on auto which makes them HIGHER then needs too. if you set them manually lower, youll get bettwe temps. having them on auto is useless for heat reductions.
