Yes, i just hate discussions of war or how to improve tactical bs bs bs. It starts off with robots searching for IED's, HMBs, etc, then it ends with robots going into war - and on our streets which will result in less officers, on the street, and more behind the computer - and that is inevitable.

I liked the video. I'll be arrogant and say its all stuff i already know and have read about but its good to see other people discussing and thinking about the issues, especially someone in such an influential position.
My concerns mostly are how people get desensitised to war, think of it as a game, etc. Good to see that covered.
And I feel for fighter pilots who get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and spend years in high intensity training to fly those planes yet are second in wartime contributions to high school drop outs who failed english.

No, its more like Trae's boss comes to him tomorrow and says 'look you do a great job, but Your Dog has produced something we want instead and costs way less for us. Sure he hasn't got the training or experience that you do, and hasn't spent anywhere near as much time on this project as you have, but he has photoshop on his computer and he knows the colours of the rainbow so thats good enough for us'
Or what do you do for a living Ava? tell me and i'll put it in words you can understand. Also you clearly didn't watch the video if thats how you think of it, the guy himself said the jet fighter pilots are looking at these UAV operators the same way Knights looked at peasants when they were given guns.
There's a degree of prestige and pride to be a jet fighter pilot. You can't just walk in and do it, hell that guy who became the UAV operator was rejected from being a helicopter mechanic because he failed english, yet still gets to be a UAV operator. Jet Fighter pilots are on par with Astronauts; you need to have passed advanced mathematics and physics in the best of the country and undergo hours and hours of training to deal with the g forces involved and more study to understand how the plane works.
If you still disagree then youre the kind of person I'm concerned about when it comes to war. War shouldnt be for someone to just stroll in and have a good time, or sit in a comfy chair 20minutes drive from home. It takes mental preparation and sacrifice to come to grips with putting yourself out there, knowing what you do ends lives. Knowing those lives you end are just like yours; they dont want to die, they probably have kids and a family at home to go to as well, but they are there because they chose to be, prepared and trained for it for years.
Not some 19 year old faggot sitting in a chair with an xbox controller, probably with air conditioning and a vending machine down the hall, flying some UAV around dropping missiles on people who never got a chance to fight back.
By dehumanising war, you defuse responsibility and people are more likely to comitt horrible acts, justifying it simply because they never had to see who they had to kill, or know the person.

Lol first off you can stop trying to patronise me. No sorry I haven't been able to watch the video yet, I am not at my usual place with faster net atm. And don't get me wrong, I would agree with the necessities of war, or more so the right to defence and part of what is involved with it.
Um, on the other hand what's with the talk about people's place in war, which was the irony I found funny to begin with. I wasn't trying to devalue anyone's job or anything, but bloody hell I'm sure they would rather do what they love without having to take part in killing or dying. If that's the part they love then it's them I would be concerned about or you for being behind that.
The whole point was that modern war is such a stupid undertaking especially when/and usually brought about through the wrong reasons and talk of who should be first in line to be in the thick of it is so dumb that it's funny if you're serious. Yet at the same you're against dehumanizing war, which I agree with, but isn't that what the video was promoting or at least the topic (sorry haven't watched it yet), so why are you attacking me? If you are taking war so seriously as well, as an oncoming event seemingly to be honoured or given such value, then you're a bit all over the shop to me
We need a new random vid lol

Well sorry Ava, but your post of "Omg no lol, getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and being second to go kill or die. What rotten luck lol" seemed pretty condescending.
My point is if people wanted to sign up and serve their country / family / people whatever, in war, thats their choice. War and acts of war should require careful thought and consideration. The act of having all these UAV operators who drop out of college and have little experience or training other than videogames, is appalling.
If the jet fighter pilots didn't want to die, theyd go be commercial airline pilots or astronauts or something better, because they clearly have tons of potential and would get just as much pay or better. They do it more than just for the money.
I'm just pointing out multiple points of view, not necessarily something I believe in myself.
If you want to know my opinion on war, it can be summarised with "Everyone just wants to go home in the end".

i have to strongly disagree dog, Astronauts deserve ALOT more recognition for their work then Jet Fighter pilots, i just dont see how you can actually compare the two.

Dog, do you know how advanced military equipment is? this is EXACTLY what they can do if they really wanted to, i mean heck, the military had internet about 5 years before it was given to the general public. We can only imagine what they have now.

No...but this is what its leading to.

WAR itself is dehumanizing, war has nothing to do with "horrible acts" rather, its to prove a countries power, throughout history it has been the case. The world can live without war if it really wanted to, but the facts remain, humans are subject to selfishness, and arrogance, as long as our leaders have those charateristics there will be no peace in the world.
You play your video games dog, behind that chair, blowing up people with C4s, calling in air-strikes (assuming you play cod), but dont you realise that its all built on reality? it has happened before it was put into that video game, it was really that easy to press a button and see bombs come flying down from a B22 Yes, by making these video games, people will automatically desensitize themselves from the act of war.
What really suprised me is the nepalm airstrike COD 7 have, i mean, genava conventions state its illegal to use in war.
Edit: Sorry bucket

Yea war has many factors other than just human arrogance/selfishness. There is 3 MAIN reasons wars are started, these are RELIGION, TERRITORY & POLITICAL. Someone believes something that someone else does not, someone HAS something that someone else does not or someone wants to usurper power into their own state. Either way, war is inevitable as human ideology dictates us to fight in what we believe in, be it for our own reasons or not.

MAN I hated the people's commentary in Charlie's vid. Yes, some things in nature don't know better than to kill like that but can the dumb as **** humans stop oogling at it like it's some drama show. I liked how the buffalo got revenge though, can't believe the calf survived too
