Shit specs only a 192 bit bus WTF think i might just stick with my 2 gtx 260 for now
Despite the closeness of the model numbers, it looks as though there are going to be quite a few architectural differences between the GTX 460 and the GTX 465. The tech hearsay shovellers over at Donanimhaber (Google translation) claim to have picked up a few details about the 460, saying that it will have 768MB of GDDR5 memory, which will be addressed via a 192-bit memory interface.
Previous rumours have said that the GeForce GTX 465 will be based on Nvidia's forthcoming GF104 chip, which looks set to be quite a different beast from the GF100 chip found in the current GeForce GTX 470 and 480.
According to reports, the GF104 can have up to 256 stream processors, compared with the 480 (and theoretically maximum of 512) on the GF100. If correct, and if the GTX 460 is indeed based on the GF104, then this would make the GTX 460 quite radically different from the GTX 465.
A set of recently leaked benchmarks and photos showed that the GeForce GTX 465 was likely to still be based on the GF100 chip, featuring 352 stream processors clocked at 1,215MHz. So, while there's not much numerically to separate the GTX 460 from the GTX 465, it looks like you could be looking at a difference of 96 stream processors, 232MB of RAM and a narrower memory interface.
Donanimhaber claims that the GeForce GTX 460 is scheduled for release in mid-July 2010, and previous reports have put the price of cards at just under the £200 mark.
