There a worse system to use than any regular PC lappy. just buy a monster of a laptop for 1500 matching the spec of the MAC and then burn the rest of the money outside the MAC store to show them what steve jobs couldn't get, only thing to do.

As I can tell, there are 2 options. Only 2 because I'm not selling you my mac.

It's then the software that you can get bundled with it where the savings are made. Also, try to get one with Leopard on it rather than Snow Leopard. That way, you get Snow Leopard for free, and you can wait until any compatability issues are worked out with the dropping of support for PPC processors.

mmmm well if you worry about OS then put linux in you lappy, MAC OS is a derivative of unix which is pretty much linux anyway.

2) you dont need to turn a PC off.
3) quality parts don't mean shit, if you build your PC out of shit parts your an idiot and you should own a mac.

But the edit suites, which are mac pros, have to use a NAS to get anything between them because if you connect them directly they fuck the shit out of each other.
