PostSubject: Recording   Recording EmptySat Aug 29, 2009 11:10 am

Hey guys, i was wondering which recording each of you guys used. I have been trying to record stuff, however, i have a few problems. FRAPS is the current one that i use, and it is shit imo. Though possibly it could be just my settings. I was wondering for those who use fraps what are the settings that you use. The problem that i have atm, is that i get lag spikes when i hit the record button and then throughout recording.

My Current Setup is:

Q6600 @ 3.0GHZ
4GB 800mhz RAM
Nvidia GTX260+ OC
320GB HDD
19 Inch 1280 by 1024 monitor

If any of you guys know any good programs for recording, other than fraps, can you please let me know what they are. I tried this one called Growler Guncam, and it is good i suppose, though not compatible with Win 7, which means that when i play back all i see is a black screen.

Thanks in advance.

FRAPS is all HDD speed. It has to write fuckloads of data every second, so if your HDD spikes then it'll cause spikes in the capturing. You're probably capturing it to your OS drive which also has your page file trying to be accessed, breaking it even more.

You really need to FRAPS to an alternate drive and the quicker the drive the better. I run half size and 30fps. 60fps is pointless.

So i would need a faster hardrive for better recording performance? Also if i do record at 30fps, doesn't that bring my in game fps down?

You could try xfire in game video. I dont notice ANY performance hits.

Really? What settings are you running. Your system is very similar to mine, except I have 6gb of DDR3 and an i7.
