EVGA mother board question regarding RAM settings Empty
PostSubject: EVGA mother board question regarding RAM settings   EVGA mother board question regarding RAM settings EmptyMon Aug 24, 2009 4:22 am

Hello

What is a DEC setting with the parameter 400 - 1400 ?

I upgraded my RAM to G-Skill 1100 4x2GB DDR2. Well it seemed a reasonable price at the time.
And Pauline says just stick in the RAm, no problems.
When I boot up the, BIOS says 800 for ram, but the timings have changed to match the RAM correctly, so I manually changed the setting in the BIOS to 1100 to match the RAM

But then there is a DEC setting with the parameter 400 - 1400 ?
I have NO idea what I am doing and asking pauline was my only help.
Pauline makes a very poor obi wan kenobi as pauline was NO help.
I just set it to match the RAM to 1100.
Everything seems to be ok, but just thought to ask in case I am screwing up something.

I have searched the forums but to no avail, so just wondering if anyone here can help.

The motherboard is an EVGA 780i (not the FTW version).

Regards...Danielle

Recomended ram for a EVGA 780i there is some kinston 1200 MHZ ddr2 out there but i do not suggest that use their ram .Because they are not SLI ready memory. and dec setting is if you want to overclock you ram, i found that overcloking you ram dose not work to well with ddr2. And at the top of you screen there should be SLI ready memory setting flick that on advance and then set you timmings to 5-5-515 i think it is.

EVGA mother board question regarding RAM settings Empty
PostSubject: Re: EVGA mother board question regarding RAM settings   EVGA mother board question regarding RAM settings EmptyMon Aug 24, 2009 8:16 am

Hello and thanks
The timings updated correctly in the BIOS when I booted up the PC as per the packaging and what you stated: 5-5-515 Smile
Only the speed stayed the same, ie 800 MHZ
So I manually upped the speed to 1100 MHZ, which is what the speed was stated on the packaging
Looks like it works fine and all is stable, so thanks
