ok ok here4 is my story... I am not known for my intelligence so please be gentle..

So i decided to test out how good the tv tuner pci cards are before embarking on my pc media center excursion...

Had the choice of $200 Dual hd tuner pci card or $49 ebay version.. Chose $49. PDTV001..

I installed it on my other pc, an e7400 oc'd to 3ghz, 4 gig ram and a 9800gt... It has hdmi and optical out..

Installed driver and woohoo my pc now sees it as a genuine chinese piece of shit..

Did a channel scan.. woohoo it finds 34 channels and all the hd and music ones are included..

So i do the normal thing and decide to do a quick test and watch a tv channel, i select channel 2 HD , it appears and about 2 seconds later it stutters skips and plays, 2 more seconds the same thing..

I decide that channel 2 is shit anyway and go to ONE HD.. the same thing happens..

I then go through all 30 odd channels only to find that 3 seconds of continuous play is the best i can get ! FUCK FUCK FUCK

I plug the aerial back into my cheap legend hd set top box and all is good again.. except now my optical in to my amp only plays sound through the main speaker not the other 4 surround ones... FUCK FUCK FUCK

So i need HELP.. i feel like a retard chasing seagulls .. I think maccas chips may help me to catch them..

Lol sounds like all my experiences with pci tuners. i dont bother with tv anymore, either download all the series i want or stream.

um the frequencies sent out by the electronics in ur computer could be fucking up with the the signal frequenies ur recieving.......
i hav my comp pluged into my 40" HDTV to play games.....but in order to get a clear signal i have to turn off my comp (or put it to sleep) in order to get a clear signal

M8, use windows media center to tune em in and use it to watch tv/ record etc it alot better.... ALL the software that comes with the pci tuners is utter shit and they all skip and pixelate etc.......i know i have tried them all in vein. The trouble with WMC though is that you cant run it on full screen on ya second monitor and browse/game on the main one. UNLESS you put it to full screen and hit the windows key, this allows you to then move to the other monitor and have full screen digital tv on the other.....EXCEPT then windows vista and 7 shit emselves and the picture starts jumping stuttering!! Anyway just have it expanded to max but not full screen on the second monitor and you can play wars and watch your favorite show at the same time Pauline....which im guessing would be Home and away or neighbours or some gay shit like that.....haha

BTW I have my 9800GX2 connected to the second monitor for digitv and Physx and my GTX295 on the main for gaming.....works great, I can now play wars full spec DX10 1920x1200 and watch home and a gay at the same time...hehehe

check your hardware settings and play with adjustments if they are available, try it in another computer as well.

The computer is 100% for tv no need for second screen, the tv is only 32 inch and 720p.

I am running win7 should i go back to xp and try?

I have tried in the card in media centre and blaze (shit that came with it) both the same - unwatchable

I have tried shrinking the window to a bees dick size and still stutter..

Should i go for the Hauppauge will it help? If a pci card that is solely for watching tv and cant i am scared that all these fuckers will be shite?

Why is it that my cheap ass 80 buck legend hd stb is ok but my dual hd tv tuner with pip and the rest of the shit cant even watch home and away long enough to see if pipa is actually a tranny?

im using windows 7 RC

i use Windows Media Centre to control my TV goodness, if you set anything to record as well as long as your comp is on itll record the tv show
its easy as piss to use and works awesomely (just scan a couple or three times to get all the channels then dont fuck with it)


anyways, i had a very bad problem similar to yours, im guessing youre still using the tiny arse shitty 4.5" aerial it came with?

go and buy a nice big aerial, mine has a CoAxial input for the aerial so i just bought a $20 TV aerial from JB HiFi that is nice and big and extendable and it works beautifully now

its a usb tuner too


the problem is most likely the aerial, go fix.. NOW!

I have a fucking 30 foot aerial on my roof, it is a bit of a joke in my street, and i still need a powered booster.. anyway i am plugging that fucker into it, not a little fucking nanu nanu martian thing like yours..

I went and bought a new coax to go from the amp to the card and it made a little difference, but now i have the fucking powered amp bit stuck straight into the tv card and all is good...

now i need to find a usb ir reciever so i can use my harmony with it..

any suggestions?

I have the ComproDTV card w/ remote IR receiver FM receiver etc.. problems are with windows 7 the tv card software for my tv card and from what your saying are not correct/ready for windows 7. If you want to watch tv use windows media center for now until new drivers come out then try. I can't even get a picture because of the fuckn conflicts between the drivers and windows 7.

Best advice is don't buy too much more shit for now until the drivers etc are fixed for windows 7. just use windows media player.

Now i am using windows 7 and the media centre is good, so can i assume that a media centre remote can be tearned by my harmony? why do i need to wait for drivers?

Um as for turning on media center with a remote i'm not sure if it'd work with your harmony as you say (i've got a media center universal remote for the pc lol) so i'm not sure how it works with other remotes, give it a go. And need to wait for drivers because there's no point buying alot of shit until its fixed so u can watch it in that program lol. But get an IR receiver so u can use your remote i guess.

1st thing is, plug it into your roof attenna

2nd thing is, make sure your cables are for digital (yes there are different types)

3rd thing is, maybe its just a shit tv tuner that doesnt work.

as with nano i have a comproDTV card. Just plug it straight into my roof aerial, and have a remote to go with it =) never had a prob with it

I went back to Ebay to sell the piece of shit no name tuner card, to create the add i went to the original add where i bought it so i could simply copy the specifications and fuck me down the bottom i found a little "Return within 30 days money back no questions asked" HA HA so i returned it for a full refund...

So i was all cashed up and ready to go again..

So i bought a HVR2200 it will arrive in a couple of days..

i Have more exciting news...

I have purchased my htpc and here it is...

1) Case - Antec 2480 - at $170 this is a fucking expensive way to turn a normal $40 case on its side! (At $180 it would be $2 per degree of turn) One thing of value i thought was the rubber grommets designed to stop the HDD from vibrating in the case.. well i must admit i can't hear any vibration in the case due to the big fucking vibrating noise coming from the wooden cabinet it is in! GET FUCKED ANTEC.

2) Gigabyte micro atx board - because $170 is obviously not enough to spend if you want a full board! So now i have very few pci slots! Get Fucked GIGABYTE

3) AMD phenom 710 3 core.. Because AMD is incapable of making quad core chips, they fuck it up and resell the chip with the fucked core as a new 3 core chip.. Still i assume playing a dodgy .avi file should only need 2 cores while the other one tries to work out why intel is so much better.. Imagine the fantastic marketing Execs, we have all these fucked quod core chips in the warehouse.. lets see.. THE NEW TRI CORE. Get fucked AMD.

4) 4 GIG of ram - why the fuck did i buy 4 gig... because its fucking cheap that’s why. so get fucked and stop asking me about it.

5) DVD burner.. this is crazy, i bought an internal sata pioneer dvd burner from fluidtek about 1.5 years ago for 29 bucks and still have the docket and the burner tp prove it. Now i can't find one for under 60 ? WTF is this about? Are the RIAA taxing the sale of burners to help with the pirate bay rental model? or are they trying to push me to BluRay..

6) 1 Terra HDD - is this the most boring part ever? what does it do ? fucking nothing, how much recorded tv does it hold? who gives a rats ass.. is it nice to look at ? nope.. so lets move on.

7) Graphics card - I used my old 8500GT with a pencil mod! This is fantastic, my TV is 1366x768 and when set the card to output 1366x768 i get the black screen of not being in the range of the tv.. GET FUCKED NVIDIA, so i change it back to 1280 by 1024.. now all the nice people look fat! i hate fat people. So i change it to 1280 x 720 now the people are nice but the start button for windows 7 is not even on the fucking screen anymore because the whole screen has moved 2 cm to the left. FUCK ME!.


So there you go, when i receive my hauppauge hvr 2200 i will write another review..
