Ok I am upgrading my CPU from the Q6600 to the Q9650, any1 use this? Anyone got any good prices/links, info?

msy's is $432 they should have a store in your local area, so thats the easiest way to get one

Hmmm, if ur not 100% definately going to get an Intel, or raher that specific one, try having a look at AMD. I run an AMD Phenom X4 9550 which runs at 2.2Ghz and is a Quad for around $300. Of course, if ur dead set on getting an Intel, why don't u have a look at the new Core i7's ;p 3.33Ghz quad and retailing for 'only' $1700 lol.

He didnt say he is upgrading his motherboard. I think he should wait and get an i9. But cos likes to buy new toys

i got the Q9550 cos. works a treat. The Q9560 from what i can recall is standard 3.0.

But i think u might be better off with the i7's but then again........... That would mean a new mobo and everything else too lol

Whats the problem with the Q6600, still one of the best all rounders.

Nah couldnt go for the whole new mobo for the i7 etc havnt had the 790i ultra that long lol.
So yeah got me a Q9550 fro $300 today....same as Q9650 but @2.83 rather than 3.0
Doesnt matter anyways as im running it at 4.0ghz atm sweeeeettt and temps are so much friggen lower than the Q6600...50 deg on max load at 4.0ghz....stoked. The Q9650 was $430 so saved me some $$$.

The prob with my Q6600 Dessi was the heat...my OC on it was 3.8ghz and during bench it was at 80deg....the 9550 at 4.0 runs 30deg cooler.....also its 45 nm rather than 65 nm and has bigger cache etc etc
Very happy soo far and it is sooo stable @4.0ghz with fuck all volts going through it!!

Yeah i've had it for awhile. It's good stuff. The temp's are low which is good. i Run it at 3.4 and that sustains smooth gameplay in crysis.
