| Hey guys. I'm currently getting sick of my current Nokia e71. I'm looking to get a new touch screen phone. I don't know what out there is that good though. I think I'll start off with what I need and use:
1. Email - I need it so that when an email arrives I am instantly notified instead of having to check if I have any new emails. 2. Web browsing - A feature that comes with all phones these days, but I want it to look nice on the screen and shit. 3. Calender - Well every phone has a calender, I use this quite alot. 4. Customizable - I hate it when I have a phone that you can barely customize. 5. Touch Screen - Nuf said. I don't like the phones where the touch screen is shit. I was looking at some phones today and just couldn't find one that I liked. Even the Nokia X6. 6. Qwerty keyboard - Must have.
I know all the above information screams iPhone! But that is more of a last option for me. I will be getting the next phone as an installment, so I need to pay extra over what I have now. An iPhone will cost 37 extra over what I have at the moment. Anyway, just want to see what everyone thinks.
Thanks in advance. |

| samsung are shit imo. have used em before and their UI is a bit crap.
i would go with a blackberry or one of the htc phones.
if your wanting a large screen then go with the htcs.
they have affordable plans, nice big amoled touch screens, run android (closest you will get to the iphone 4 software. quite nice ui as well). android is open source so feel free to customise it all you want on a htc. has a calender like all other phones and also email.
i use the htc desire for work atm alongside with my iphone and am loving it. runs smooth, quite easy to navigate, easily customisable. emails popup on the lock screen when they arrive. hasn't got a qwerty keyboard but i don't see the need for one as the touch keyboard is just as easy to use.
and seeing as you want web browsing, htc phones would come the closest to an iphone in terms of screen size area.

Does everything i want with ease and only costs me $66 a month on optus with 750mb data and $350 cap. Havnt used any of the other smart phones as went from an old nokia to this and will never go back. Cos. |

| Blackberry Storm2 -
Instant Email notifications.
QWERTY style keyboard - Could be difficult at first to use, but you learn to adapt.
Great calendar app. Also stores your social networking events and notify's
Customisable web Browsers - Meaning you can download a web browser of your choice. Touch screen is accurate and unique.
Customisable Apps. Place the apps you want in the menu. Themes etc can be downloaded of course.
Simple. Predominately used as a business Phone. |

| Hey Everyone thanks for the information. I've been working on my phone today. I got [with some trouble] the email to work, perfectly sync'd. Still looking at getting a new phone though. I think it will be an iPhone 4 that I do get in the end, but I would still like to really explore my options. I still feel that this phone is nowhere near customizable enough as I would like it to be. It is also rather slow once packed with a few extra features. Still would like a touch screen, can do without, but just a preference.
Edit: Hey Charlie, yeah I was actually considering that one today. I'm not sure if I can get it at 3. I hope I can. Though I am looking at that phone. Provided it is not too expensive. |

I got mine from 3 on a $69 cap plan with 100mb free Download. If you want it for business then get it. But if you want gadgets etc etc, Iphone would be the better choice for you. |

| Yeah. I'll see mate. I am going to get another phone as an installment on top of my current e71. So it will be my cap, currently $49 - though I'll be bringing that back down to $29 - plus the cost of the phone. I can get an iPhone 32gb for an extra $37 a month which I find excessive. I'm really not looking at paying more than $20 a month for a new handset. The iPhone 4 16gb will cost an extra $25/month. Will see how I go, but the Storm 2 looks like a great choice |

| Yeah mate I know. Though I can't cancel my current plan without paying $800+. The best I can do is to get another phone as an installment on top of my current plan. I still have 18 months to go on my plan. Gay.. |
