| That computer should go like the clappers.
How big is the difference between the GTX280 and the 285? How much of a difference does going from 65nm to 55nm make? |

| nVidia rates the gtx280 at 45x (45x the 8400gt) and the gtx285 is at 49x
so not much.
also notice that the 9800GX2 is also 45x |

| yeah i like it but dangerdan has both the asus d2x xonar and the fatal1ty and says the xonar is better I don't agree as avalost has the xonar and i think they are equal, but you notice how much better the direction of the sound is. I can pinpoint an cloaker through sound |

| I used to be able to do that in Crysis, but I haven't been able to do it as well since Wars. It didn't help that when wars first came out that there were full servers and almost everyone was cloaked so it was no point listening for them anyway. |

| Well It depends on if you want to make the sound even louder then the sound card goes. The amp is better for headphones but my cheap headphones go loud enough when pluged into the soundcard. So if I was to buy a sound card I would stick to the pro.
If you want a better opinion ask DANGERDAN as he has the amp. (actually I'll ask him, he is a little angry at FTW atm)
I was just say that in my case I would be able to use my sound card with it
order of sound card quality:
1-Fatal1ty/Xonar/prelude 2-USB 3-onboard |

| I hope you have some luck wounded! btw what speakers are you guys using with these top end cards? Do you need top of the line 7.1 speaker setup to utilise the cards capability? I have logi X540 5.1 speakers and am wondering how much better a fatality pro etc would be than my onboard 5.1? Also i have a Sennheiser headset which only does stereo as its 2 speakers so would i really notice any difference in geting a good card? thx, Cos. |

| well what headphones do you have?
the 5.1 will get better directional sound but the speakers will be a bottle neck to the quality. headphones will always sound better on a soundcard |

| If it helps at all, the same thing happens with the front ports on my case and the case of my cousins as well.
To get it working in the first place I had to do some messing around with settings and turning up the front panel jacks to start with.
I've been making 1 male 3.5 mm to 2 female 3.5 mm cords so that I can have my X-530's and my Zalman surround headphones plugged in at the same time.
If anyone wants a seperate sound card I have a Sound Blaster Live PCI card in a computer that doesn't work anymore.
As for hearing yourself when you talk, there will be a setting in your sound preferences in the playback section that sends audio from the mic to the headphones. |

| Wounded, when you plug it into the front go into your sound controls and make sure the mic's muted, or else you will hear yourself talk if it's not. Second, it won't work in game? go into control panel>sounds and audio devices make sure that you've got it all selected for the front panel e.g for my sound card it would have SB Live! 24-Bit in all the boxes under 'sound playback' 'sound recording' etc. make sure that in those two boxes on that 'Audio' and 'Voice' tab have got the same or correct card/default audio that you want to use. For you it would be the card/default audio port in the front of your pc that you are pluging your mic into. Now if you havn't got lost by now, under the 'voice' tab there should be a clickable button that says 'Test Hardware' it should work after that in game. Also make sure that in the sound settings where you can mute speakers etc and mute/unmute mic, click options and go to properties then click recording then 'ok' and make sure your mic is not muted.
P.s. update the driver if possible - also the instructions I gave were using XP so if you have vista I would think its relatively similar.
Hopefully that should do it. |
