| Everyone loves that feeling of winter, right? I'm aware there's a small square of each picture with some shading issues. Not sure whats going on with that, but alright. This map seems to be much less laggy then I thought, considering the complexity of the terrain heightmap. Now, someone go make this into a PowerStruggle. Which one are you referring to?
I'm working on many maps.
Be specific. |

| Looks nice, very nice heightmap... looks like antarctica, the actual land bit not the ice shelf.
That 3rd pic almost looks like it should be the complete map area, has a good shape to it. I can picture a proto and 2-3 of both energy sites and bunkers, all in that scene. Looks epic! :] |

Go fuck yourself.
I'll release that when I can get the damn lag down.
(Besides, I'm busy with Year 12 stuff anyway.)

| A few people have now suggested this gets made into a PowerStruggle. I'll give this entire map out. Free. .Cry files included. Someone else can have the fun of making it a PS. Map name right now is 'Thermal'. Change it if you like, renaming the level folder shouldn't screw it up at this point. As it is now, it's a half finished racing track map. A few roads everywhere. No vegetation. Very light snow particle effects, nothing like the blizzard in Frost. The performance as it is now is very good, so a bit of vegetation and objects shouldnt hurt at all. Anyone up to the challenge? I'll shove it up for download in a minute. DOWNLOAD LINK: http://rapidshare.comrapidshare.com/files/402208571/Thermal.rar.htmlOR http://www.mediafire.com/?djmzum4dyj1

You seem to be a very negative person towards designers and people who make an effort.
I'd like to see you jump on the map making bandwagon yourself, and stop point gaining off other people by your remarks. |

That's the reason they're NOT in action.
Crysis 2 will change everything. Hell, with the promised 'Urban Environment', natural maps like Highland and this are going to be phased out and replaced with CoD style garbage. Pfft, like urban hasn't already been overdone.
I will be pleased if Crytek actually release some damn pine trees with Crysis 2. Fat chance, but still.
I was hoping to migrate the majority of my Work-In-Progress maps to Crysis 2, but considering the direction it's taking in its theme, I'm beginning to wonder if that will be possible without turning everything into a custom object. Imagine the file size of the download then...
We'll see. Holidays are here. (For me anyway)
Highland's almost done. It's just performance I'm worried about.
As for this map, I'll leave it up to someone else to do the work. I've built the foundation.. :\ |

| most features such as terrain and shit will be able to be implemented into crysis 2, building will change, but over all i completely agree that urban warfare is a bit gay compared to any other alternative. Because as we all should have seen, the editor is very much the same as the sandbox 2, therefore models may change, but getting maps terrain right should be only a little problem. |

| if you guys think back to the initial techonology preview you'l remember they still have island environments and even a european pine forest, i doubt they won't include these in the sandbox. |

| exactly....amybe even in the beta ☺
plus even ontop of that i would think going on the sort of same trend that crytek does, most aspect including texturing and modelling have a high chance of being similar |

| By the time you finish your map, it will render useless. Crysis 2 will be out by that time. _________________ |

| im confident there will be a way to import crysis1 maps into crysis2. there will be loose ends to tie up once imported but it should be possible. |

| Sandbox 3 will likely use heightmaps, pretty much all engines and editors do. It's extremely efficient to use heightmaps for terrain (and the reason you cannot create overhangs or caves). I feel it will be easy to export the heightmap and import it to SB3. Likely you will have to repaint the terrain with SB3 textures, there is a good chance you could import objects from crysis, but will have to treat them as customs.
Ive also heard SB3 will have a better system for procedural vegetation, let's hope this hasn't changed. They also talk about crysis 3 being expansive despite being urban environment, with mention of far canyon-like corridors as in main streets, that you can see down a fair distance. This speaks to me as able to make large sandbox levels perhaps better than SB2 handles large level. However, C Yerli did say, when showing off sandbox3, they showed the forest demo, and he mentioned of it as from a project no longer being made. But it was still capable in the editor, just you would not have access to any of those assetts in any game.
However, this is a game built for consoles, so it may well disappoint many PC users, in a similar way as Supreme Commander 2 has. Not a bad game, but lost a lot of what made the PC only SupCom1 epic.
But then, the game and the editor, 2 different things. You can still make things the game does not feature, through the editor and using the game assets.
New York should have a central park, which hopefully means oak trees or something along those lines.
I guess we can only wait and see, but I'll certainly be figuring out how to import an SB2 map, I will not rest till I do. |

It's not built for consoles.
Theres an entire different teamd oing the PC version. The console version just came first, thats all. |

| There's a different team working on each port of the game.
Windows and xbox just share a similar framework. PS3 is entirely different. Either way it's still the same game. But recent long run-through's of the map with the solar panel grids show it still seems to play like the original, which is good.
Just as long as the sandbox has a good library of assets, then it will not fail us. |

| there will be a shitload of crysis mapping and mapping support in the upcoming title, credit to crytek because of the similarity of the 2 sandboxes. I also would like to think of the community modding support for cross platform gaming.....which would be awesome!!!! |
