Hello Desicrater
If Charlie wants to win the thread Perhaps consider changing the name to "Charlie Squad" ?
Anyway, here are a few posts about cross platform online gaming.
Looks like it CAN be done.
Anyhow, have a read. Some of the comments are funny about PC gamers in general as a bunch of hackers with aimbots...
Cross-Platform online play: - where PC and console gamers collide
http://www.gamertell.com/gaming/comment/cross-platform-online-play-where-pc-and-console-gamers-collide/PC and PS3 gamers are on a collision course, as another game Brothers in Arms will come pre-loaded with cross-platform online gameplay feature that will allow PC and PS3 gamers, who own a copy of the game, to compete against each other online.
Cross-platform gameplay is available across Windows computers and Xbox 360 through the closely-knit Games for Windows Live and Xbox Live online services for Windows and Xbox 360, respectively. This feature can be sampled through the game Shadowrun
4. Cross-platform online play

Once online games started crowding the market, open source networks, such as the PlayStation 2, Dreamcast, Xbox and Nintendo GameCube took advantage of online functionality with its PC game counterpart. Games such as Phantasy Star Online have private servers that function on multiple consoles. Dreamcast, PC, Macintosh and GameCube players are able to share one server. Earlier games, like 4x4 Evolution, Quake III and Need for Speed: Underground also have a similar function with consoles able to interact with PC users using the same server. Usually, a company like Electronic Arts or Sega runs the servers until it becomes inactive, in which private servers with their own DNS number can function. This form of open source networking has a small advantage over the new generation of Sony and Microsoft consoles which customize their servers to the consumer.
PS3, 360, and PC players together on Multiplayer?

Why can’t this be done?
Usually the answer I see given is something to do with servers and requiring too much effort on everyones part. In other words Sony, or whoever pays to host the PS3 servers would have to allow PC users to eat their bandwidth and likewise for PC server owners and Microsoft’s servers.
So is that it? Sony, Microsoft, and PC server owners are too stingy to cooperate with each other? I actually have no doubt that most all PC servers would have no problem with 360/PS3 players coming on. I think the real people holding it up would probably be Sony and Microsoft, two pretty shitty companies as far as customer treatment goes, especially Sony.
